NFL Top 5 Bottom 5 — Week 2

It’s the return of the NFL Top 5 Bottom 5. After two weeks it’s pretty clear there are two teams above the rest. And while both may stumble here and there during the season, if they can avoid major injuries, I wouldn’t be surprised if these two meet in the Super Bowl in San Francisco.

And as always we pay tribute to those heroes that give their all on the sidelines jumping and shaking those pom pom’s. The NFL cheerleaders of course!

TOP 5:
1. New England Patriots (2-0): The defending Super Bowl Champs show Rex Ryan that his Bills are far from ready to knock them off their perch at the top of the AFC East.

2. Green Bay Packers (2-0): The Packers are getting hit with injuries but as long as Aaron Rodgers remains healthy the Packers appear to be the best team in the NFC.

3. Arizona Cardinals (2-0): The defense is good. The offense has been solid as well. But the big question always looms…can Carson Palmer stay healthy?

4. Denver Broncos (2-0): The Donkey’s have scrapped their way to 2-0 despite the fact it takes 10 minutes for a ball to float from Peyton Manning to his receivers.

5. Cincinnati Bengals (2-0): Andy Dalton is playing well–for now.

Bottom 5:
1. Chicago Bears (0-2): Da Bears da bad.

2. New Orleans Saints (0-2): Team is struggling again and it doesn’t help Drew Brees shoulder is ailing.

3. New York Giants (0-2): G-men can’t close blowing two fourth quarter leads.

4. Detroit Lions (0-2): Lie-downs lose first two on the road. Returning home could help but easily could start 0-3 hosting the Broncos.

5. Philadelphia Eagles (0-2): Never thought the Iggles would be here but their poor early play definitely puts them on the list.

Video: Chad Johnson Slaps Attorney’s Rear End And Gets 30 Days In Jail

Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson, formerly “Ochocinco” had his freedom. He struck a plea deal that would have kept him out of jail after violating his probation in a domestic violence case involving his ex-wife Evelyn Lozada. But then he decided to slap the butt of his attorney as a “attaboy” moment prompting laughter in the court room. The judge however, Kathleen McHugh, didn’t find it amusing. She rejected the plea deal and sent Johnson away to jail for 30 days. While it was pretty funny, Johnson might want to be a little more careful when he chooses to express his humor. Clearly the courtroom isn’t the place.

NFL Playoff Power Poll

To get you set for the best postseason in sports, the NFL Playoffs, here is how I rank the playoff teams one through 12. Here is the NFL Playoff Power Poll:

NFL PLAYOFF POWER POLL:

1. BRONCOS: An 11 game winning streak, Peyton Manning, a tough nosed defense and home field advantage are just a few of the reasons Denver is the AFC favorite to reach the Super Bowl.

2. NINERS: The team is built to win it all as long as their young quarterback doesn’t succomb to the playoff pressure.

3. PATRIOTS: If the defense can continue their improved play Bill Belichick and Tom Brady may be making another Super Bowl run.

4. FALCONS: With home field advantage, it’s time for Matt Ryan to move into the elite class of QB’s and lead his team to a Super Bowl.

5. PACKERS: You can never doubt a team with a QB as good as Aaron Rodgers. If they get past the Vikings in the first round they’ll give the Niners all they can handle.

6. SEAHAWKS: If Marshawn Lynch can continue to carry the majority of the load offensively, with the defense as strong as it is, that will take the pressure off Russell Wilson’s first appearance in the playoffs.

7. TEXANS: Houston loses three of their last four and home field advantage in the process. You don’t want to be playing your worst football come playoff time.

8. REDSKINS: RG III is as fun a player you’ll watch. He’ll need plenty of help however for any shot at a deep run in the playoffs.

9. VIKINGS: They got into the playoffs closing the year with four straight wins including victories over Chicago, Houston and Green Bay. With Adrian Peterson you can’t count rule them out of any game. Could be this year’s New York Giants.

10. COLTS: To win 11 games in Andrew Luck’s first year is beyond what anyone could imagine. Any playoff wins would be gravy.

11. RAVENS: Credit Baltimore for doing enough to win their division. They should be motivated with Ray Lewis announcing this will be his last ride but with all the injuries they don’t have enough horses to finish the race.

12. BENGALS: You wouldn’t expect the Bengals to make noise but anything is possible when you have a top 10 defense.

NFL Top 5 Bottom 5–Week 18

As heard on 1320 KFAN here is the final regular season edition of the Gunther and Graham NFL Top 5 Bottom 5. Some shuffling among the Top 5 while the Bottom 5 remained stable. We do have a new team in the poll and as we always do, we honor them with their cheerleaders!

NFL TOP 5 BOTTOM 5:

TOP 5:
1. BRONCOS (1): Closing the season on a 11 game win streak and securing home field advantage for the playoffs shows the Peyton Manning signing obviously paid off.

2. NINERS (4): Locked up the NFC two seed by dominating the Cardinals. Still question whether Colin Kaepernick can handle the playoff pressure.

3. PATRIOTS (5): Defense pitches a shutout in season finale.

4. FALCONS (2): Lose to the Bucs in the meaningless season ender. Can they use the home field advantage to propel them to the Super Bowl?

5. SEAHAWKS (NR): Hottest team in the NFC will try to make a playoff run as a wild card.

Dropped Out: PACKERS

BOTTOM 5:
1. CHIEFS (1): Coach gets fired but the GM that put together this mess of a team is keeping his job–for now? Yeah, that makes sense.

2. JAGUARS (2): GM gets the ax. Coach Mike Mularkey most likely next.

3. RAIDERS (3): Close the year losing eight of their final nine as this once proud franchise continues to embarrass themselves.

4. LIONS (4): From a playoff team to selecting in the top 10 of the draft. Good to see the Lions return to normal.

5. CARDINALS (5): The fact they started Brian Hoyer in their final game at quarterback sums up why both the coach and GM were fired.

Dropped Out: NONE

NFL Top 5 Bottom 5–Week 17

As heard on 1320 KFAN here is the latest Gunther and Graham NFL Top 5 Bottom 5. And once again we have a new No. 1. And continuing with the holiday theme we honor this week’s poll with NFL cheerleaders dressed in their holiday attire. These would be the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. Too bad America’s team wasn’t good or bad enough to make this poll this year so we could feature them more!

NFL TOP 5 BOTTOM 5:

TOP 5:
1. BRONCOS (2): A win over the Chiefs and Denver goes into the playoffs on a 11 game win streak.

2. FALCONS (4): Always good to have home field advantage wrapped up going into the final week.

3. PACKERS (NR): Winners of 10 of their last 11 Green Bay is poised for another deep playoff run.

4. NINERS (1): Curious to see what kind of effect the thumping by Seattle has on this team heading into the playoffs

5. PATRIOTS (5): Pats haven’t been playing well the last two games. Look to get back on track Sunday versus Miami.

Dropped Out: TEXANS

BOTTOM 5:
1. CHIEFS (1): A loss to the Broncos and KC is on the clock for the first pick.

2. JAGUARS (2): The next home for Tim Tebow? Enjoy him Jacksonville.

3. RAIDERS (3): What speedy wide receiver will Oakland draft next?

4. LIONS (4): A loss to the Bears and Detroit closes the season on a eight game losing streak.

5. CARDINALS (5): And this week’s quarterback is…

Dropped Out: NONE

NFL Top 5 Bottom 5–Week 16

As heard on 1320 KFAN here is the latest Gunther and Graham NFL Top 5 Bottom 5. For the second consecutive week we once again have a new No. 1 in both the top and bottom. And in honor of Christmas we spread the holiday cheer with pics of NFL cheerleaders.

NFL TOP 5 BOTTOM 5:

TOP 5:
1. NINERS (5): Topping the previous No. 1 team on the road earns the jump to the top spot.

2. BRONCOS (2): After taking down the Ravens, Denver should finish the year on a 11 game win streak with only the Browns and Chiefs left on the schedule.

3. TEXANS (3): Houston is fifth in defending the run. They’ll be tested Sunday by Adrian Peterson.

4. FALCONS (4): Atlanta bounced back impressively from the Carolina loss by blowing out the Giants.

5. PATRIOTS (1): Had their seven game win streak snapped by the Niners. Should bounce back and end the season with wins over the Jaguars and Dolphins.

Dropped Out: None

BOTTOM 5:
1. CHIEFS (3): Lowly Chiefs generate just 119 yards and seven first downs against the lowly Raiders.

2. JAGUARS (2): Playing an angry Patriots team this Sunday won’t be pleasant for the Jags.

3. RAIDERS (4): Good news is they ended a six game losing streak. The bad news is it was against the Chiefs.

4. LIONS (NR): One year removed from making the playoffs, the Lions have returned to their mediocre state.

5. CARDINALS (1): By beating the Lions the Cardinals end their nine game losing streak but who thinks that was probably a fluke?

Dropped Out: TITANS

NFL Top 5 Bottom 5–Week 15

As heard on 1320 KFAN here is the latest Gunther and Graham NFL Top 5 Bottom 5. In a rare instance we have a new No. 1 in both the top and bottom featuring the latter with their cheerleaders. Turns out they could beat them as well.

NFL TOP 5 BOTTOM 5:

TOP 5:
1. PATRIOTS (Last Week-3): Tom Brady is playing like, well, Tom Brady and the Pat’s already appear to be Super Bowl ready.

2. BRONCOS (4): Winners of eight straight, Denver has only one real tough game left–this Sunday at Baltimore.

3. TEXANS (1): Houston’s mortal performance against the Pat’s makes you wonder if they truly are a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

4. FALCONS (2): After losing to Carolina things don’t get easier hosting the New York Giants Sunday.

5. NINERS (NR): Colin Kaepernick is 3-1 as a starter. Now we’ll see how good he truly is as he duels with Tom Brady Sunday night.

Dropped Out: RAVENS

BOTTOM 5:
1. CARDINALS (NR): While they have four wins, after the 58-0 loss to Seattle this team is truly the worst in the league.

2. JAGUARS (1): Even Chad Henne can’t lead this team out of the doldrums. Like we thought he could to begin with.

3. CHIEFS (2): A week after beating Carolina the Chiefs return to form in a blowout loss to the Browns.

4. RAIDERS (3): If the Raiders could break a six game losing streak it would be this week vs. KC.

5. TITANS (NR): Losers of three straight it will be sooo exciting to see them on Monday Night Football against the Jets!

Dropped Out: PANTHERS, EAGLES

NFL Top 5 Bottom 5–Week 14

As heard on 1320 KFAN here is the latest Gunther and Graham NFL Top 5 Bottom 5. A new team enters the top 5 and we honor them in our customary way–with cheerleader pics!

NFL TOP 5 BOTTOM 5:

TOP 5:
1. TEXANS (Last Week-1): Texans roll over Titans which now sets up a Monday Night showdown in New England.

2. FALCONS (2): Atlanta avenges it’s only loss by taking down the Saints.

3. PATRIOTS (5): With the win over the Dolphins the Pats clinch their fourth straight AFC East division title.

4. BRONCOS (NR): Denver clinches the AFC West and makes their debut into our Top 5. Obviously the latter is the bigger honor.

5. RAVENS (3): Blow an opportunity to beat the Steelers without Big Ben. Next three games tough playing Washington, Denver and the Giants.

Dropped Out: NINERS

BOTTOM 5:
1. JAGUARS (2): A week after beating Tennessee the Jags return to their losing ways falling to Buffalo.

2. CHIEFS (1): Doubt the win over Carolina could dull the pain this organization is suffering.

3. RAIDERS (3): Losing streak reaches four. Will most likely go to five after Thursday’s game against Denver.

4. EAGLES (4): Fire the defensive coordinator, fire the defensive line coach–next up the head coach.

5. PANTHERS (5): After losing to the Chiefs it seems very unlikely they have any chance against the Falcons.

Dropped Out: None

NFL Top 5 Bottom 5–Week 13

As heard on 1320 KFAN here is the latest Gunther and Graham NFL Top 5 Bottom 5. We have one new team enter the Top five and we honor them with their cheerleaders. Enjoy!

NFL TOP 5 BOTTOM 5:

TOP 5:
1. TEXANS (Last Week-1): Yes they needed a bad rule and Jim Schwartz’s emotions to bail them out against Detroit but as they say a win is a win.

2. FALCONS (2): While remaining No. 2 Atlanta has been struggling needing comebacks against both Arizona and Tampa Bay the last two weeks.

3. RAVENS (4): Fourth and 29? No problem. Just get the ball to Ray Rice.

4. NINERS (5): How many teams can be good, change quarterbacks in midseason and actually get better?

5. PATRIOTS (NR): Pats have won five straight and while the offense is continuing to roll along the defense is also getting better.

Dropped Out: PACKERS

BOTTOM 5:

1. CHIEFS (1): It’s so bad for KC that the players are getting autographs and pictures taken with opposing team’s players.

2. JAGUARS (2): It took Chad Henne to come into the game to get the Jags their second win of the season. If they don’t watch out they’ll lose the No. 1 overall pick.

3. RAIDERS (5): Bad news is Oakland has lost four straight. Worst news is they’re getting blown out.

4. EAGLES (NR): Really strange to see how far the Birds have fallen.

5. PANTHERS (4): For a night Cam Newton reverted to first year Cam Newton.

Dropped Out: BROWNS
