When former Utah Utes basketball coach Rick Majerus passed away Saturday due to heart failure at the age of 64 many in the media shared their stories about the legendary coach. From a national perspective most wrote of his great basketball expertise to his quick wit and sense of humor. From a Utah perspective the stories ranged from his basketball genius but also acknowledged the issues that eventually led him to leaving the Ute program.
Few have the perspective of Utah assistant coach Tommy Connor who both played and served on the bench with Majerus. Connor joined Gunther and Graham Monday afternoon on 1320 KFAN to share some of his stories of his former coach. Maybe he summed it up best calling Majerus an “enigma.”
