BYU Coach Bronco Mendenhall Digs In Even Further With His Support Of Riley Nelson At Quarterback

by BYU

For any BYU fans that had any hope coach Bronco Mendenhall might consider benching quarterback Riley Nelson, think again. In fact he seems to have dug in heels even further in support of the senior quarterback. He said the following after practice Monday (at the 4:10 mark of the video above):

“I really don’t [see a scenario in which he would pull Nelson]. I think Riley is improving our team. There was a lot of that through three and a half quarters [vs. Oregon State]. A few decisions were not wise. But there was a lot of stuff where he answered touchdown for touchdown for a long time. I am kind of focusing on that point. But we do need to take better care of the football.”

You think? It’s reached the point where I just can’t fault BYU fans for just giving up on the season. It appears Mendenhall has–at least on the offensive side of the ball.
